Re: new cresty just arrived
thanks a lot sam! it was a great experience working with you. ups dropped him off at 10am on the dot.
put my hand in front of him and he immadiately climbed on. then he explored my hand for a little bit before he went to the tip of my finger which is when he decided to take flight. hopped onto the bed where i coaxed him onto my hand again. then i just led him to his tank where he started exploring... i put up a bunch of lil plants and one big stem that goes from one side of the tub to the other. gave him a hide, which he checked out. i think it was too big of an opening he didnt stay long, he prefers to hide along the plants. i tried taking a pic he was looking so adorable he was in the plants with just his head poppin out. super happy about him/her. having a hard time figuring out a universal name in case its a boy or a girl, he'll just be "the cresty" for now.

Re: new cresty just arrived
i dunno if its cause he's a baby... but theyre very elusive. when i check on him takes me a minute to find him, then i see him in some group of plants (i got lil bunches of foliage on every corner... plastic foliage) so i know he's exploring a lot. havent seen him take the stem on though, maybe i should provide more plants to the branch (also plastic) so he can make little hides up there. im going to try to leave a food offering of the gecko diet tonight, could i leave it there til morning? and should i remove it after the morning? i got a tiny water bowl for him and i mist him in the morning. might even try to handle him a little tonight for some better pics. thanks again for the positive feedback!

A good rule of thumb is if it doesnt take you 30 seconds to find the gecko, you don't have enough foliage hehe. they like to hide in them, it makes them feel safe. It's a good thing that you have to look for him.
Yes, always leave the food in overnight. they are nocturnal so they're going to eat mostly at night. Some will eat any time but typically they eat *more* at night. You can remove it in the morning, if you want. Personally, I leave it until the next night when I feed again, but that's just convenience really. Its not going to hurt anything to leave it in there, unless you notice it molding, in which case it wouldnt be a good idea to leave it.

Re: new cresty just arrived
yea he has plenty of hidy spots, id figure he would use the actual hide but he prefers to be in a bundle of the foliage. sometimes i saw him roaming the ground, taking in the enviroment. what i dont see him is climbing up the stem. he's been more terrestial than anything, then again ive only had him for about 24 hours lol so maybe he hasnt learned that he can go up there yet. ill show a pic of the setup i got for him, this weekend imma get him a few live crickets to entertain him.

Re: new cresty just arrived
sounds good. I think it's all fine, he's probably just still adjusting, or its normal behavior and he's just being weird :P I promise you he'll be ok
