What are you doing for 2010?
Is there already a thread for posting our gecko projects for 2010? I only checked the first two pages. What will you be focusing on? Anything in particular you're hoping for? We should post holdbacks from last year, too!
I will post pictures of mine in a couple weeks. I'm probably only going to be breeding three pair: God x Georgina, Candycorn x Fruitloop, and Zeke x Jazz. I'm actually selling a few of my females that I bred last year, but I held back over a quarter of the babies to see how they turn out.

Re: What are you doing for 2010?
Ash, those dont sound like geckos
Well, Emily, I've actually put ton of thought into this year's pairings and I still don't know what I want to do XD
I will be keeping Boxer x Dio together since they produced amazing babies last year.
Pandora x Plutonium is a definite pair and I'm looking forward to that for sure!
I want to pair my female Topaz with Darwin, but I'm not sure she'll be big enough, so if I do it wont be till late in the season.
Sally's gotta get a new boytoy but I'm not sure who yet. I originally bought Jupiter as a future mate for her, so I'll probably stick with that.
I'm *thinking* I'm going to pair Oogie with Trolley, and maybe Chevy with Zero? Switch it up a little? lol.
Don't know which male I want to put with Nauru yet. Might stick Darwin in with her again, or possibly Plutonium if he's up for the job :P
As for Leopards,
I've got a super hypo tang x hypo tang pair, which are Salem and Maple- they're ready to go for sure!
Weevil (patternless) will be bred to Jitterbug (mack snow patternless) but, again, maybe not till late in the year since weevil isnt quiiiite big enough yet.
Purple's girlfriend Papaya ended up male sooooooo no trempers this year XD
Gargoyles....
Davey is aaaaalmost big enough to breed, and I'm sure Peanut would get the job done, but I think I'm going to wait until next year just to be safe. All the other gargs are definitely too small.
As for holdbacks.... I haven't officially held anything back this year, but I've got a few that i'm thinking arent going to go anywhere
so yeah.....kinda thinking about it all still, but those are my plans at the moment!

Re: What are you doing for 2010?
Heh. No biggie- you can just give one of the babies to me since you used my gecko thread to talk about your snakes.
Sam, what are your goals with your pairings? I'm looking for bright orange tigers and bicolors with great structure with Candycorn x Fruitloop, crowned red pinners with Zeke x Jazz (and I might pair my light red girl with him too if nobody buys her soon) and extreme harlequins with God x Georgina. Eventually, I will be breeding my pinner and harlequin group holdbacks together... possibly next year. I already have 2009 holdbacks from the tiger group and a pair that produced yellow partial pinners that will be breeding in 2011, too.

to be entirely honest, I'm not too goal-oriented when it comes to the geckos. lol. I like to pair random stuff up to see what i get haha. I've got a couple almost solid-dorsal babies that i can hopefully pair up next year (they're unrelated, fingers crossed for opposite sexes!). Boxer and Dio produced some really nice partial pinners this year, so that's why I'm not messing with them lol. I want to pair darwin up with topaz to get some creamy yellow geckos, but like i said, topaz isnt quiteeee big enough yet.
I've still been unsuccessful in getting Sally to produce any babies that look like her lol. shes really, really, light. was sold to me as a "yellow dalmation" and she certainly is not ever yellow lol. shes practically white with dalmation spots. I have yet to find a really light male that would maybe produce light-colored babies with her.
but yeah... I just like to play around with stuff XD

Re: What are you doing for 2010?
Sam, sometime soon I may have to buy a couple of Cresties off of you.
I've this weird desire for a pair. I could have fun with their enclosure. Thinking one of those big Exo-terra things.

I have a feeling you'd make a pretty awesome enclosure for them, too!
Just say the word my friend! Y'know I'm not really that far from you and I'll be doing a few trips down your ways this summer

I hope you come sooner than later. You should know I'm moving all the boid-kids in to plastic. A. G. A's famous glass vivs are... movin' on up - movin' on up! - to the curbside! To a refuse-strewn spot in the junkyard!
Hahaha.

I'm well enough schooled in their general husbandry, but as for Cresteds in general, I've much to learn in terms of the varying morphs, etc. Gargoyles? Doesn't Caponetto produce those? That's the only name I can shoot off the top of my head.
I saw some in PetSmart the other day - for what I imagine was an outrageous price - and they're just so adorable, lol.
Just looking for a nice display animal - preferably 0.2. I also really enjoy - from a glass-thumb point of view - those Exo-Terra enclosures that are increasing in popularity. Can get their largest and a matching stand for $500 on Big Apple, though I'm sure I could find them cheaper elsewhere.
I could have a lot of fun with that, I think.

well, I'd be more than happy to help ya learn the ropes, and of course recommend some helpful reading material, etc.
firstly, though, Gargoyle geckos are an entirely different species of gecko lol. I do happen to keep gargoyles as well. They are both Rhacodactylus geckos, but Cresties are R.ciliatus and gargs are R.auriculatus
Gargoyle:
crestie

Well, if you think petsmart was outrageously priced, it depends. they generally have one blanket price for cresties, no matter what color/shape/size/sex. In reality, definite females are going to cost you much more than an unsexed baby or a male.
Exo-terras are certainly good tanks, i've got an 18x18x18 myself. I dont know what the "largest" size is you're referring to, but I imagine you could find it cheaper than $500 o.O

Re: What are you doing for 2010?
Ya see! That's exactly what I mean! Lol.
No, between the two, I'd be much more for the Cresties.
As for the price (that I saw), I don't remember off the top of my head how much they cost, but going by the usual inflation rampant in that pet-chain - Desert-banded Kings for $100, Balls for $79.00, two frozen hopper rats for $8.00 - I presumed it was run of the mill.
As for the "largest," I believe it was something like "36"x18"x24."
The cage itself was $250, the stand $200, and I believe shipping was $1-something.
Exo-Terra Large Glass Terrariums - Great for Lizards & Snakes
Those I imagine I could find at PetSmart for somewhat cheaper, at least to avoid the s/h charges.
As for reading material: you know I'm always game! I bought a book about Burmese Pythons the other day just for some light-reading.
Don't ever plan on ownin' one, but at least I'll be expanding my own personal horizons and keeping up to my par my usual know-it-allness.
