My Blizzard leopard gecko has been suffering of pin worms for the last 2 1/2 months, he has gotten three doses of de-worming (the name skips my mind) After the first two doses he gained 8 grams, then started loosing again. Since he has lost all the weight and is right back where he started. He is still getting medicine and his next dose is in 10 days but he still is not eating. He has'nt gained since his last dose and completely ignores pinkies also. His tempetures are perfect and he has plenty of hides, fresh water and calcium in a bowl. I don't know what to do from this point it almost seems hopeless.

The medicine was panacur or a generically named type of the same med.
One question I have that leads me to believe they were never fully eradicated in the first place....

Why are you going 10 days between rounds of meds?

I also believe that the pinworms were not fully eradicated.
The dosing on the Panacure (Fenbendazole) is not correct. It is to be given once weekly until you reach a negative stool sample. (Per any vet I've spoke to and book I've read)
Yogurt given will help the guts natural flora while being medicated.

Another thing to take into consideration is....
Has the gecko been fed any pinkies???
If so it could be that the pinworms are "mouse pinworms" and do not harm reptiles.

Good luck with the little guy!

okay.. then is there anywhere I can buy the medication anywhere else? This one is the only vet relitively close to me and she does every 3 weeks.. I imagine I could do it myself.

You may be able to get it from a feed store and dose it yourself. I always get it from work(vet).
Are you having to go in every three weeks for the vet to give it to him? If so WOW.
Is there an experienced vet near you? If so I'd go there.

Good luck!

It may come as a oral paste. And may have to be diluted down.
Panacure or Fenbendazole is the name if the medication.
Dose of 25-50mg/kg
I'd go see what they have and post it here.

Good luck!

You got to be careful with those. Those things can infect humans also. They're highly contagious!! I know you can get the stuff at CVS or rite aid, whatever you have in your neighborhood!!!

I usually get it in either paste or powder form at feed & tack stores.
You may be able to get it from the vet also, if they are willing to let you do the treatments yourself.
