So when I was at PetCo with the burm the other week a lady that worked there asked if I would be able to take a Tokay Gecko she had. She said her dogs were trying to get in the cage and eat him -_- lol... So She brought him over today with a 20 gal long tank... I upgraded him to a large open air enclosure and I'll probably be adding a night heat bulb... Any suggestions on that heat bulb? needed? not needed? I know they require 75-90 degrees day and lower 70's night... So yea... Anyways...

Here's Reptar... My first Tokay Gecko He let me hold him and sat there pretty calm, but as you can see, he still wanted to bite me

she's a cutie, that's for sure.
did she just eat something? If not, is it just me, or is there a slight irritation/infection in the left side of her mouth?
As for heat, yes, please do provide some sort of external heat source. I have a black bulb i keep over my Tokay. They need high humidity like cresties, but unlike cresties, they need a higher temp.

good stuff Sam... and I think that's actually a piece of substrate... She had him on some weird ground up looking coco husk type stuff O_o I wasn't going to stick my finger in there to get it, LOL... I'll have to check on her in a little bit and see if it's gone...

And she's deff. a girl? I didn't see any pore looking things, LOL... So that's what I was thinking....

I actually haven't a clue, I was just saying she XD would have to see pores to say for sure. can you possibly get a shot of her pores?

And as for the mouth thing, please do check it out. could be substrate or food (since it's on the top and bottom) but i've also seen infections that look identical to that in leopard geckos.

Tokays are not as easy to sex as some geckos such as cresties, though I think the males do have pre-anal pores, not quite sure though. And I would honestly put it back in a glass tank to keep humidity and heat in.

I must have skimmed that part. I agree, I would keep him in something glass for now. regulating heat and humidity in a screen enclosure is pretty tough.

I'd say female...with 80% certainty lol. And the 20 should be fine. you can stand it up on end to turn it into a tall habitat and block off a good portion of the screen with plastic shower liner and use a plastic tub to hold in substrate if you are using any. And congrats on your new friend! Looks like she is falling in love already lol
