I own a leopard gecko that I bought from a reptile show. Her name is Tyron, shes about 4 years old now and almost 9 inches long. She use to be really nervous when ever I opened the tank to feed her, but around the past year or so something strange has happened.
I know leopards aren't to fond of being handled but, not with my leo!I started noticing she'd stopped running off when ever I opened her cage, she just watched me...
But the thing that surprised me the most was one day when I was moving some of her furniture about.Instead of running away scared she walked up to my hand and tried to climb up!!! I was so suprised that I tried to move my hand away but she continued to climb on to it!
And shes been doing it ever since.Whenever I open her cage she sort of puts her front feet up in their like a baby would it's so cute!
Maybe it's just that im good with reptiles!

That's awsome! I would love to get to that point with my tegu Shamika. I would love for her to learn her name, she's already potty trained! -Juggalo

Oh, my leo's used to run and scurry away just like your's did. Then the more I held them the tamer they became. If people are gentle enough with handling leos as we are then they develop a trust for their owners and sometimes other people. My leo's only trust my fiance, my mom and me. If anyone else trys to touch them they will act shy and nudge their heads in my arms.
My leo's are so tame that they take naps with me and cuddle up in the little corners of my arms. They aren't phased when I put my hand in the cage. They just stare at it. Some times I'll be tending to my cape striped gecko and my leo's will go to the front of the cage with their heads up and just look at me.
Leopards are the best pets by far!! Don't you agree?

Yeah, leopard geckos are great pets. It sounds cute how your leos hide away when other people try to touch them, it sounds like they trust you!

I know your leo's will probably do that too if your mostly the one that holds them. My leopards are also the only ones that will let me look at their sexual organs. If anyone else trys to do that they bark and squirm like mad.
I never heard leopards being shy to people other than their owners. My Bushuu and Tobu know who their mommy is! LOL.
