This is my little Leo girl Dezzi
She is by no means new but today Prizm my older male died so I had them all out giving them attention and she was being a camera hog

The special thing about her is that she will not eat live crickets, only the freeze dried ones, I just have to wiggle them in her face and she gobbles them down

I had no plans to get another leo but when I saw her at petco as a tiny little baby in a small tank with all the bigger ones I felt awful. They were all piled on top of her and the very tip of her tail was dried up, it fell off soon after. The tail itself was probably big around as a thick needle and she was in desperate need of some crix. So I brought her home, one of the employees explained she wouldn't eat for them, and as she looked so much near death they pretty much gave her to me, but I could honestly understand why given her poor living situation. ANYWAYS...here she is
Needless to say my mission has been to fatten her up!!

These last couple are a few days after I brought her home...she had some shed stuck on her face but we have gotten all that fixed now of course

I'm so sorry to hear about Prizm. Any idea what happened?

Well I seperated him and his brother Tiko into different tanks because they were starting to get too big to share a tank. He stopped eating all together so I put them BACK together in a bigger tank after about 2 weeks, this didn't work because now they started fighting. So I separated them again and he just refused to eat...So its really my fault for messing up the balance of things but I'm trying not to dwell on that right now...

When I say he was "older" him and his brother were older than Dezzi is lol

You can't dwell on things like that. You did what you thought was right for them both. If you had asked the advice of anyone on here, a vast majority would have told you to separate them. I would have done the same thing. Sometimes things just happen.

awww I'm sorry to hear about Prizm. I lost an adult male leo a few months ago, its never easy.

Dezzi is gorgeous though! I love her patterns! just simply beautiful

she's looking very healthy, keep up the good work!

Thanks Sam!

Its crazy how I figured out she only wants dead ones....I had her on paper towels at the time and I would just leave a cricket or two with her, they eventually died in there so I went to go pick it out and she would attack them as I took them out, eventually I just started getting the ones freeze dried from Flukers...she absolutely LOVES those!

wow! lol. that seems like it would be kinda a pain though.. haha.
When my other male was hunger-striking he wouldnt touch crickets and i had to hand feed him waxworms (to get his weight back up, too). After awhile, he started eating crickets again no problem. it was weird. lol. he seemed 100% healthy for like 6mo- a year after that. Even up until the day he died. it was kinda strange...

Nah I really have fun feeding her all the time because she knows when I come to take her out she starts wiggling her tail and its so cute to watch. Most times she just attacks the crickets as soon as I put it in front of her face.

I'm sorry about Prizm. I lost my first leo, George, last month.

Dezzi is very cute and i agree she is a camera hog lol. I love that she won't eat live crickets! Mine won't touch the dead ones. Very awesome, leo

Sorry for your loss. How old are those leo's? They look like they need to pack some weight on, those tails are pretty thin.

Thats all the same leo...I'm not too sure how old she is but she came from petco really unhealthy, in those last two pictures of my OP is how she looked when I got her a little over 2 months ago. I'm working on fattening her up but its taking a while as shes a picky eater.
