Crestie Setup
So I'm getting a crestie soon and I was wanting ideas on their setup. I know a lot of climbing branches/vines are important. But I'd really like to see pictures of some of y'alls crestie setups. I've got the basic essentials, now I'm in the design phase.

Re: Crestie Setup
Reaaaaally crappy photo from my cellphone, still haven't got a camera yet, but this is the setup I have for the new lil' crestie I got last weekend:
That big, thick piece of bamboo is his hide, there's a nice, big hollow spot in the top end that he hangs out in during the day. I'm looking to get some more decor for his tank this payday!
Oh, I have a live philodendron planted in there, as well.. nice, big-leaved one for now, everything else is silk plants.

Re: Crestie Setup
I'll be using the same ExoTerra. I've got some awesome vines and fake plants for it. But I LOVE how full yours is. Your baby must love it!

I think he does, the first night I watched him explore the whole thing, right down to testing the edges of the screen top.. I love that he actually uses the bamboo hide, too. XD I didn't want him hanging out on the glass too much 'cuz apparently, if they're upside down, their tail won't adhere to the glass that well and can flop over their back and cause a deformed pelvis and such.. so I put as much foliage and whatnot on the glass as I could.
Here's a pic of the lil' guy for ya! Little Harlequin, can't wait to see how his colors come out. His mother's a nice, dark-red crestie while his Dad's a deep chocolate-brown. He's in his light-phase in this pic:

Re: Crestie Setup
i dont have any photos at the moment... but I use lots of long pieces of driftwood and grapevines, and i wrap lots of plants around them, as well as throwing a bunch of random plastic plants in there. Just have lots of foliage and you're good. as for the tank- your exoterra should do just fine- what are the dimensions of that one, though? I know lots of people do the 12x12x18 for little guys, but i prefer something larger for adults. I've currently got an adult in a 29-gal custom slider tank (only one female in there, but her manly companion will be introduced again shortly...lol), and one in a Zoo-Med (i think that was the brand) 18x18x24 (again, just one female for the moment). All my others are kept in 10 gal (younger geckos) and 20gal longs set on-end (adults). just food for thought
Luka-your little guy is adorable!

Re: Crestie Setup
The dimensions of that enclosure I've got my Crestie in are 24x18x24, so I definetely think he's got enough room all to himself. XD I dunno what gender he is quite yet, but I've been calling him a 'him' anyway. I could easily get another crestie to put in there considering the size, but for now the little guy's got it all to himself.

I call the one I'll be picking up a "her". Gotta try to come up with a gender-ambiguous name hehe.

Re: Crestie Setup
I lack originality. XD I called my new little guy "Harley".. just 'cuz it was cute enough to fit, and works for either gender.

I love that name. I had a guinea pig named Harley. She was my BABY. I wept when I had to euthanize her.
