Is this what I think it is?

I was cleaning out my leopard gecko's litterbox when I noticed something unusual.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that looks like an egg!! I really am not sure how that's possible. I only have females and it's been months since even the newest addition may have had any contact with a male.

is it dry? I've heard of reptile species occasionaly producing dud eggs for various reasons (smell of a male, certain seasons, etc)

Re: Is this what I think it is?

It's a dud egg, unfertilized. Sometimes females produce eggs, kind of like chickens, with no male contact. Just toss it out, it is absolutely infertile.

Yeah it was dry as a bone. Empty too. I just wasn't sure if leopard geckos produced infertile eggs. Kind of cool to find though.

Re: Is this what I think it is?

Yeah, almost every gecko species does this, if they are ready to mate they lay eggs.
