Leucistic lighting?
So I'm considering getting the leucistic leopard gecko that we have at work but I was wondering if she needed special lighting. The main reason I ask is that when we have the normal white basking bulb on her during the day, she seems very lethargic and doesn't like to open her eyes. However if we put the same wattage red heat bulb and leave that on 24/7, she's much more active. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Leucistic lighting?
I'm curious then... Is a red heat bulb the way to go? Or would a UTH work better?

Re: Leucistic lighting?
I love my leos. I have 3 adult females in a 55 gallon right now and I might be bringing home a leucistic who is possibly visually impaired. She just has so much trouble hunting. She misses every single time unless you handfeed her. If I get to adopt her, she'll be in a 10 gallon by herself.

Re: Leucistic lighting?
At one time I had 21 Leo's. I had blizzards, Hypo's, Albino's, Tangerine Albino's, high yellows, and normals.

Re: Leucistic lighting?
I use a UTH for my Leo. I also agree with the light thing. It would just stress them out. Just use ambient room lighting or a red light if you really wanna use a light.
