My new leopard gecko - I want to kill him already!!!
Well I went and picked up my little 6 week old hypo leo yesterday. He's gorgeous but like all baby's, they're quite jumpy. I had his viv set up for the last 2 weeks so when I got him home, the plan was to take the lid of his tub, put the tub in the viv and let him come out in his own time. Well as soon as I took the lid off he jumped out and on to the counter. I didn't move, trying not to startle him. He then jumped onto the floor. I tried to pick him up but instead he squeezed in under the dishwasher. I spent about 20 minutes trying to find him and eventually decided that the only way to get him was to pull out the dishwasher (but I didn't wanna risk squashing him). At this point the little **** decided to crawl up into the dishwasher!!!
I had to pull out the dishwasher, flip it on its side, take the back panel off and one of the side panels!!! Now, he calmly comes out and crawls up onto my shoulder !!!! It was almost like he was testing his new owner. Still though he (or she) is beautiful. I'll be taking pics tonight when I get home, I decided to leave him to settle in after all of the excitement.

Perhaps now that you know he is fast and jumpy, being a baby and all, maybe you could take him out away from large appliances, sofas, etc.
I have a house gecko or two and they are indeed fast when they want to be.

Glad you got him out safe. I've had a peacock day gecko escape out of his cage when I was trying to clean up a spot before and spent 3 hours chasing him around the house as he ran up the walls and across the ceilings.
