Suprize in the Leo Tank
I am a Boa guy. No legs for me, thanks.
I bought my sons two leopard geckos last August; two female leopard geckos.
Tonight, while we're watching a movie, the leopard geckos engage in wild sexual intercourse for fifteen minutes. Not one to interrupt romance, I wait until they're done, and check out the one on top. Sure enough, she's a he (bulges and pores).
So, I reiterate, I'm a Boa guy. What's the time line on egg laying? What is needed for a laying box, incubation, etc.? Help a brother out.
They are both het Bell albino. Is that any good, as leos go?
Thanks for your help.
NO MORE LEGGED CRITTERS! But I'll sell some babies.

Re: Suprize in the Leo Tank
bell albino are the most pricey albino leos, Im not too sure on a time line, but put a laybox in with moist eco earth, and when there layed incubate at 82 for females, 88 for males, and right in between for a mix. If you incubate at 90 or higher they will either die, or be hot females. Despite the name, hot females are not attractive, they are just basically alot like rosie o'donnel, They are technically females, but they are big and robust like males, hot females also cant breed until they are about 4 years old

Re: Suprize in the Leo Tank
lol Hi Ranger welcome to Leopard Geckos! Its easy to hatch leopard gecko eggs. What I did was pretty much put mine in a 1.1 mixture of perilite and water in a little deli cup and stuffed them away in a high place (shelf perhaps) in the room of the house that stayed heated. No need for an incubator. Heh also if you feel you want to use one then that is fine. More people feel more comfortable with that. The leos just need a moist box to lay the eggs in. After the female starts getting a bit fat with eggs (2 usually) take the male out or he will stress her with trying to breed too much. Oh and when you put the eggs in the container you will incubate them in, make sure to lay them in the same posision they was deposited. I think that about covers it all.

Re: Suprize in the Leo Tank
ALso, most first time clutches of eggs are duds. Its worth incubating them but I have never successfully hatched first clutches from leos.

Re: Suprize in the Leo Tank
Ranger-- I'm shocked I thought you would know all about the birds & the bees and it takes 2 to tango and all that...lol
Have fun I had to babysit 2 hamsters one holiday what I return to their mommy as 8 hamsters. She was sure they were 2 males just thought the one without the "juwellery" was less "gifted".
