Leaopard Gecko!!!
I finally got the leopard gecko I was telling you guys. Ill have pics up when I can.
Well the guy that I got him from said that he was very inactive and stopped eating. The day I got him I tried giving him some crickets and he ate them with no problem and was very active exploring his cage and climbing all over everything.
My question is could the lack of heat make him not want to eat? My friend didnt give him any heat. I have a CHE on the cage for him and its providing a hot spot of about 90.

Re: Leaopard Gecko!!!
In reptiles, a lack of heat means inadequate digestion. They instinctively know this and will stop eating when they are cold to avoid food rotting in their stomachs and poisoning them. That's why the mantra on this site (and others) is "proper husbandry, proper husbandry, proper husbandry, proper husbandry."
If your temps are on target, you provide fresh water, and an acceptable substrate with hides, branches etc., most reptiles will thrive.

Re: Leaopard Gecko!!!
leopard geckos are desert reptiles, so no humidity is nessicary. but you should still hae a shallow water dish in there

Re: Leaopard Gecko!!!
Hello,
They do need a humid hide though to help them with shedding, & they will drink out of a water dish, so that is a necessary thing to have in their tank as they can still get dehydrated just like any other lizard can.
They will have problems shedding if it is too dry in their enclosure. The humid hides are easy to do. Just get some spaghnum moss & put that inside of their cave & he should be all set.
