Question LEO's and their Calcium and vitamins... Questions..

I've read that you have to dust their food items with calcium, then I have also read that you can leave out a little bowl full of it and they will eat it as needed?

Also I was in a pet store today look at their reptile things. Do I need to dust their food items with vitamins also along with the calcium?

I'm a bit confused, but I'd like to get it all straighted out and set up right before possibly going out this weekend looking at Leo's at a reptile show.
Also if you need both, is there a "two in one" out there.
Are certin kinds better then others?

I do both.

I leave a little cap with a little calcium and vitamin powder in her enclosure and she licks it as she needs.

I also dust her food one week with calcium, and the next week with vitamins, dusting her food once a week... and alternating the dustings.

Week 1: dust one day with calcium
Week 2: dust one day with vitamins
Week 3: dust one day with calcium

etc etc...

You can also gut load crickets and roaches with calcium/vitamin rich food that you feed to the crickets and roaches. That way the cricket is filled with the nutrients and that passes on to the gecko when it eats them.

I do all of these and haven't had any problems.

Thank you! THIS is what I was looking for. Since I'll probably be getting a baby, is once every other week dustings of each still good or should I do cal dusting on Monday and vit dusting on Friday of each week?

I'm reading up on gut loading them now.

You're welcome.

I got mine as a juvenile, not a little teeny baby but I did it all the same as I'm doing it now... just dusting once a week, gutloading the crickets and leaving a little cap in the enclosure. So I think dusting once a week will be fine, but if you wanted to you could dust twice a week every other week with the calcium and just dust once with the vitamins.

Feeding them a variety of foods is good for them too; Crickets, waxworms, mealworms, small roaches, and even fruit flies since babies are so small.

This is where I get my gut loading feed from:
