my female tokay died :(
My female tokay suddenly died yesterday. She had just laid two eggs about a week ago and ever since has been a bit lethargic. Her former cage mate is being treated for Hookworkms but I hadn't yet been able to get a good fecal sample from her to bring in to work. I feel terrible for not getting her to the vet office sooner. I was giving her some down time after she laid eggs. She wasn't eating either but her tail was nice and fat. I'm thinking she had hookworms and wasn't able to handle it on top of laying eggs.
My male is doing a whole lot better though. his vent healed and hes eating just fine. hes on a dewormer also.

Was she WC? WC tokays are difficult to acclimate. Also she coulda had a calcium crash if she had recently laid eggs.

I had my boss to a necropsy to see if she had an egg impation. She didn't die from that as we ddin't find an egg but she was a little too decomposed to tell how she may have otherwise died. She was not a wild caught tokay, I got her from a reptile rescue in NY.
