not really. just expensive. tremper seems to be slipping in the worlds of new
morphs. he doesnt work with anything except his own bloodlines, and theyre all recessive traits, so the price of the
morph just drops crazy fast.
people like the ones at geckosetc.com have taken mack super snows, and then bred them to all the different types of albinos, and patternless albinos, and other
morphs, to create really interesting crazy stuff.
tremper came out with raptors, now hes just breeding the red eye gene into other
morphs. his blazing blizards have more yellow and dont even look as clean as say las vegas blazing blizards.
his answer in the first question is in response to the fact that people have bred different tremper and non tremper genetics, and hatched out animals with the same red eyes. something he considers an accident.
really, its ridiculous he would charge that much, and then he would give away how to create them [which it wouldnt be that hard to figure out looking at them] but blazing blizard is a double recessive. and RAPTOR is also a resessive. so you breed them together, and then inbreed the babies together untill the genetics combine. so anyone with both a raptor, and a blazing blizard can create these "diablo blancos" or white devils, which.. might take an extra year, but they can get them, for free, or considerably cheaper then what he wants to charge for them. since raptors themselves are so cheap nowadays. and i can probably guarentee that someone somewhere is already doing that.
and he bred them from a single raptor male, hes not outcrossing very much, and its making for weak genetics, females who produce a few clutches and then mysteriously crash and die. that happened with his raptors and his aptors.
but the combining of genetics like that is alot like how people get "albino green granite" burms and things like that. alot of animals, when you take it to that point, will just die if they can even hatch out, and will only live if you give them daily baytril injections. its sad. but leopard gecko
morphs is really a cut throat business. you always have pressure to create the latest and greatest, and in a year that same
morph is worth pennies on the dollar. the "big" money isnt in normals.
combining traits is how they come up with new things. just like raptors X super snows. i saw
hets for like 3500$ for a pair. who knows what they will produce, maybe nothing, maybe a snow with red eyes. but you can get a raptor for like 400, and a super snow for the same price... and a year full of meal worms....
it just goes on and on and on.
