Conjoined twins [du warning]
i know this isnt the first time this has happened, but its the first time it happened to me, i picked up the egg that i was waiting for it to hatch out [its clutchmate came out a few days ago] and... some yolk came out, and.. nothing else, and i didnt want it to die in the egg, so i figured i would split it and let it out, because i had no idea how long it had been since it pipped, as i was splitting it, what do i see, but a head... and then another head. it was conjoined twins. i pulled it out, and then put it on a paper towel, it wasnt breathing, so i was assuming it was already dead, but it pupil reacted when i flicked on the light, i sprayed it with water and still nothing. so i decided to snap some pics, and leave it be, untill i could find it its own little jar. it was definitely cute, and shame it didnt make it, but i think that even if it did make it, it would have endless ammounts of problems, like what head would i feed? and shedding would be a pain.

You have to keep it! Put in a jar of formaldehyde and preserve it! That's one of the greatest sights I have ever seen!

not very common, in all the time ive delt with geckos, i know of it happening to one other persons crested geckos. snakes are quite a bit different then geckos, and it was dead in the egg, but even if it hadnt been, it wouldnt have lived long, it would have had sevear problems with shed, and that alone is enough to kill them.
we cant get fermaldehyde, so we use denatured alcohol, and we have quite a collection going so far. if you would like to send us a bottle of fermaldehyde, be sure to include cigars. trips... er.... vactions are good times.
i was impressed that it was so comepletely fully formed. ive even heard of twins hatching out the same egg, and surviving, being a little smaller then normal [not conjoined] but making it. they had all their toes, their tail was weirdly deformed, but everything else was perfect, they were actually a fairly decent size. and they were conjoined so far down the body, that i dont think they would ever be able to support themselves upright, or climb correctly etc.

Yeah.. I had that happen to me one time, when I was uh... breeding snowballs. We were shocked it happened since they had a 20' foot room all to themselves so they wouldn't compete for food. We raised them to full term and sold them for a gazillion dollars. Here is a pic I /took/ when they were younger
Sorry.. was that bad? (I just thought it was funny based on your thread from yesterday)
Those are truly amazing pictures though.
