thanks, theyve got the very best temperment, even compaired to leopard geckos. i have an old amel male who is just.. my all time favorite terrestrial gecko. total sweetheart. he has had surgery on both his peens [and had them removed] so hes no good as a breeder, but i still keep him in with a lady, so at least he gets some quality company.

Gah I can never get over how much they look like leopards. Aren't they close genetically? Can't remember, maybe when i get an idea of how my government handle pet reptiles coming in so I wanna stick to what I have and what I have planned to get soon.

yes.. they are.. kindof. geckos are split up into 3 major groups, eublapharinae [lidded geckos] diplodactylinae [double finger geckos, including the genus rhacodactylus] and gekkoninae [true geckos, including genus philsuma and uroplatus]. both fat tails and leopard geckos fall under the family "eublapharinae" with fat tails being in the genus of hemitheconyx come from humid forrests in africa, and leopard geckos being in eublepharis, they hail from the deserts of pakistan and the surrounding areas. Goniurosaurus [cave geckos] are also in the genus of eublapharinae, and hail from very humid forrests in china/japan. Coleonyx species, which are in the same family, are found in the south western US and mexico/central america.
here is a picture of a cave gecko, sometimes called the "chinese leopard gecko" which is actually specificly refering to Goniurosaurus luii, which this is not.
