crested gecko feeding?
So I have two cresties, they both share their 20 gallon tank, but in june Im most likely going to build them a new one. A taller one. But for now they both do fine and still fairly small.
My smaller one though, is rather particular when he eats, its rather weird. I know they usually eat when your not watching and what not. The two of them dont fight or anything over the food I've been sure to watch that, and im pretty sure the older one is female the littler one of the two is to small to really tell yet, from what I read.
But anyway, when i go to feed them for one he doesnt like to go down at get them especially if hes up in his little bush thing, and if I put them in far away from him he wont go after them. I have to drop it like right down on his nose for him to snag it up really fast. I dont put the worms in a dish just yet, I tried it and they werent touched at all by either and the dish is small enough for them to get at. Do I need to show them that that's where their food will be? or if I do it enough do you think they'll get it? My leo realized real quick that that's where its food goes in the little dish.
But these two, almost seem like they like to hunt it. But I dunno.
also, Since I do plan on building them a cage, what do you think it should look like? anyone have any ideas? Im most likely going to use shower board and PC pipping along with plexi glass for the door. But I dunno.

crested geckos dont always like worms. the are attracted to the movement when eating, so if theyre hungry, and you drop food on them, theyre going to see it and go after it. if you drop food below them, theyre not going to notice or see any movement, and consequently, not go after it. when theyre moving around at night, they will come across them and thats usually how it works.
if you.. are set on feeding them worms, put the crested on the floor near the dish, and they will see the movement and go after it. or they will be to stressed from having a huge hand pick them up to do much of anything.
its a trial and error process, and i really dont know what to tell you.
