Are leo eggs supposed to be really soft when they first come out of the female? I heard their supposed to calify soon after the leo lays them. When my leo laided her eggs they were still soft. After all it is her first year laying!!!

Usually it's the first clutch that isn't good, but just keep them incubated and moist like normal untill you know for sure.
As for the calcification, I don't think they actually get too hard as the eggs will get rather large during the incubation/embryonic growth period. They have to be flexible enough to stretch out a good ways.

If you look here, you will see that the eggs will look soft and flexible during their duration.
Just click HERE.
This is one of Constrictor_BOs pics from his album.

oh really? Because her second clutch was bad. I started to incubate them but they had mold all over them and stunk like mildew. Oh well better luck next time. I just can seem to get her to lay them in the egg laying box.

Paws,
well one of my breeder females had a really bad season she laid 5 cluthces and only one egg hatched the rest of her eggs where all yellow and they all grew fuzz after a week of being in the incubator the other females did really well, as for getting her to lay in the box i use margerine containers with perilite and some moss to keep in the humidity and all of my geckos use it to lay and even when they ahed, is your egg box relativly humid? also leo eggs are soft and they feel leathery, are how long did it take for your eggs to mold?

It only took a week total and they were all fuzzy and stunk!! I even candled them and they were bright yellow to begin with. Will I ever hatch one. I put them in a container with moist moss and perlite. Then I put them in the cage with my leo's. Seeing how I keep the temperature at a constant 85 degrees. I think this is just a bad year for her. She eats like a pig before pregnancy and after and I give her plenty of supplement. I mean she eats it raw. What else better should I do? Should I actually buy an incubator? I mean 40 bucks is a lot. Think I could buy a used one from anybody? I'll pay 25 - 30 for it.

whoa $40 bucks I paid $190 for my my" little giant" still air incubator and it works like a charm, i got mine on ebay from a chicken farm, but hopefully next season she will do better, Im pretty sure you are doing everything right i mean the same thing hapened to me with one of my females, but what might have happened is that when she layed them she turned them and drowned the embryo. I even candled my eggs and they still got stinky but im hoping next season things will be better.

Yeah the hovabator, I thinks that's what it's called. It's supposed to work like a charm. Yeah maybe she is an inexperienced leopard gecko mother. Turning her eggs to drown them. What kind of mother would do that?

I couldnt get Eddies link to show up for me. I have been redoing my album and might have messed the link up. Here is a pic instead. The egg is quite soft as you can see. It hardened up mostly but not totally hard. I have 10 clutches this year and only 2 clutches were good.
Here is the egg right after being laid.

Well this was the first year these females bred. As far as I know it was the males first time also. I'll see what happens next year.
