Q) Do we want to encourage web users from other sites to come pay and host pictures here?
Why I ask : I am also very active on a web site about my car (350Z). There people ask where they can have their images hosted. Of course, most get sent to Imagestation.
Recently
Natas posted needing money to upgrade the server. It would seem like some people there (not many, but some) might be willing to pay the modest fee to have their pictures hosted in albums here.
But before I told them they can check this out, I wanted to make sure it was ok. In general this are non-herp web users who are looking to host images on albums, and "direct link". This could have a positive effect on "contributions"($$), but also might have an effect on bandwidth.
I am just asking. I can post a note there telling them to check the photo site here and contribute, or not.
P.S. explanation on "direct link": many free host sites don't allow users to direct link to show a picture, you have to visit the site to view the albums. This way they can show you all the adds and pop-ups which makes revenue for the site. When you direct link (like here at rtb), you enter a url to the image itself and it shows up within the post. Our albums allow this, so, for example, I have pictures of my car in the album, and I point to them from the other web site.
