I've heard amny people keeping Piranahs with oscars, Both fish are highly agressive when feeding, plus their agressive natures seem to cancel each other out and they live in harmony.
Actually singlely, Piranahs are quite shy, its only in good numbers they are the killing machines they get a reputation for, Though i still wouldnt want to take a bite from one.

NO I DO NOT keep the pirahna's with the oscars. I keep the P's in a 54g and the oscars are housed in a 135g.
P's are cheap fish that attack other fish when the go to the surface to feed. Oscars do not have teeth, they inhale there food, while P's like to
shred there prey down to the bone. P's should not be housed with anything other than armored catfish like plecs and rapheal cats
Ed-r your are right, they get there deadly rep cause the hunt in packs of 1000's shredding small pieces of flesh of there victim at a time, they are fairly shy fish but definately should not be trusted with others.

Faze- I have never kept pacu but they are mainly vegetarians, where the piranha is carnivorious(some piranhas will also take pellets), so I image the pacu would be a much more mellow fish. Pacu also get bigger faster.
