balloon mollies

Is there anyone who has balloon mollies. I have had several and they keep dying for no apparent reason and the other fish in the tank are fine. My friend says that it is probably because they are so genetically mutated that they have a lot of problems. Any ideas?

I don't keep Mollies anymore, but I've had them in the past. Mollies like Brackish water. I added a little sea salt to my tanks, tho I can't remember who told me to do that. It always kept them alive and reproducing. I know Tetra makes a brackish water additive, you might try that.

sometimes you can use sea salt, but you gotta make sure the ph and everything is ok, i believe after they have babies, they die off..but i could be wrong. i would have your water checked just to be sure though.

amanda i've noticed that they arent as hardy as the normals also but adding salt will also help with the stress levels. also i've noticed that they seem to be territorial towards other's unlike the normals
