Well OK then. For some reason you want to justify that everything I am saying to you is wrong and you have all the problems already solved. I still havent figured out why you get on the deffensive side without even being provoked. I was just trying to help, I was not being a {Mean Person}, and I was giving you SOLID advice. The things I have told you will save you money, time, aggrevation, and learning the BASICS the hard way.

im sorry for being deffensive. i get that way very easily for some reason. i have been listening to what u had to say. when i first started this tank a year ago i put fish in about 1 hr after the filter went on. i know that was bad. but only lost 1 fish BECAUSE it was a walmart fish and it wasnt very healthy when i bought it. i dont knowy i bought it. as of right now, all the fish are swimming around activly. 1x per week i will be vacuumming the gravel and doing a water change to help keep the ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, etc. levels down.

Re: WAHOO! the waters clearing up!
I'll give it another week before your ammonia levels start to rise, it take around 2 weeks before they start up. In a fully functional healthy tank there is no reason to have to do anything to keep ammonia and nitrites down. The bacteria do that, but they have to have time to grow and multiply. When you emptied your tank you destroyed any bacteria you had. You have basically a sterile tank now. Whats this regular filter also, theres many types of filters, different brands, and different models. Right now I can tell you that this tank is headed for disaster. I would bring all the fish back to the store and grab a trio of danios. They can survive cycles fairly well and are tough fish all around. On the off chance than either of the "cichlids" survive they will need a lot more room than a 10g. Unless by some miraculous chance they are shell dwellers they need more room. I keep one of the worlds smallest cichlids and they're in a 20g long at least.

Re: WAHOO! the waters clearing up!
today is 2 weeks, the waters clear and all the fish are healthy. i bought a new filter. it pumps at least 85GPH, i forget what the brand was. it was something 1000.i still have all thwe bacteria on the fake plants, ornaments, and driftwood. all i took out was the water and the gravel.
