Any success?..
Has anyone ever had success keeping an Oscar in a community tank?.... I've kept Oscars most of my life and it's always been them and other cichlids... Decided to go community this time but now am itching for another Oscar lol... I know it would end up eating it's tank mates eventually lol... Oh well... Looks like I'll have to buy another tank!

Sounds like you know what to expect. I heard a "peaceful cichlid tank" described as fish in a state of armed neutrality. One good way to limit aressive behavior, is to ensure a pecking order is pre-planned the best you can. Since oscars grow so fast, it's likely he will end up as the boss. It would be just as well then, to buy the oscar a little larger than his tankmates so he doesn't have to fight to establish dominance.
Once they reach reproductive size though, they can get more territorial, and other wierd things can happen. I had a large red devil spawn with an oscar. They were really in love, and killed everything else in the tank. (The eggs were not fertile, but they didn't know. They were very attentive and protective.) Have fun, and good luck! I've found the African cichlids easier to keep. You just have to crowd them so the dominant fish has enough targets and rivals.

Oddly enough, I had a tank with an Oscar, a Jack Dempsey, and a Gourami lol They all got along great.

Of course if there are tankmates small enough to fit in his mouth, they'll eventually be eaten. How big is your tank?

The tank is a 90gallon...I've owned all sorts of cichlids my whole life... I know that once large enough the Oscar would feast on the others lol....
