I have 2 planted tanks myself (100 and 110) and both have CO2 systems installed along with a UV steralizer that runs 8 hours a day.
I change my water about (30-40%) every 2-4 weeks. I keep Discus in this tank. Overdoing the water changes in the past caused me many issues. I know people like to change water constantly, but its not really needed at that rate once the tank is well planted, and established.
Also save your money by making your own fertalizer Just don't accidently drink it when you leave it in the fridge lol. (LABELS are your friend).
Oh and get some Rainbows in there in a few weeks, and 2-3 Discus after the tank has been running stable for 3-4 months.
Beautiful tank, but in my opinion it needs a nice piece of driftwood. The big rocks look good, but don't mix well with the others. Sorry but I am all into making things look perfect in my tank and natural

i had diy c02 for about 10 days but it stopped bubbling and i ran out of yeast. i should set it up again. i dont have the uv sterilzer though.
also discus here are 40$ for a juvenile.
for about 2 days after a water change i notice that al the fish are more active but strangely less aggresive. The shrimp also comes out a lot more. I bought new better food and did a water change yesterday and now i came home today to discover a massive bubble nest at the top right corner with my biggest (and first) fish. its a wild type dwarf gourami. he is very entertaining to watch him gather pieces floating and bring them up and attach them. he is also blowing odd bubbles into it that do not pop. I know this means he is ready to breed but i dont have any females in the tank right now because the local fish stores do not carry em. i must check the big chains like petsmart/petco because i havent seen em yet.
Also, it isnt fully planted yet. i plan to have hygrophila corymbosa, riccia flutians, (for the bubble nest so that they dont tear up my hairgrass) Anubias agustifolia or afzelli, java moss, and brazillian pennywort. The plant growing the best in there now is the vallisernia.
i might add another school of tetras (emperors or black widow) and maybe another interesting solo animal

Thanks everyone!
I am glad you like it
i counted everything up and its a total around 280
this includes the kit (all glass aqaurium 29 deluxe (tank, filter, heater, hood, basic lighting, therm) small airpump, 3 airstones (i use em at night only) tubing, 55w Power compact flourescent lighting from Aquarium hobbyist supplies (diy kit)
food, extra filter cartridges, dechlor, buckets, siphon, gravel, rockwork, aquarium sealent...
including flora/fauna
I am angry right now though because the "alpha male" of the tank has been maintaining a large bubble nest for the past day and i cant find a female for him because none of the local places keep em
