do i have to de-clhorinate the water?
i know id need to for bigger fish but would i need to for little guppies?

I always DC the water for all my freshwater fish...in NYC...here in NJ I have well water so it's not necessary

You DO have to dechlorinate the water, or it's bad for the fish.
But you don't have to buy the stuff to do so. If you have your aquarium set up right with a good filter, and you let it run for a few days, it should dechlorinate itself.
You should buy the stuff anyway, because when you do water changes you should dechlorinate the water before you add it to your tank.

I don't think it dechlorinates itself (might be wrong), but if you let it run for a while it will rid itself of ammonia and nitrite.

hello, i work in an aquarium/fish store in canada and i have seen a few tanks crash because of too much chlorine
it is true that over 24 hours chlorine evaporates bBUT there are other harmful things like CHLORAMINE which will not evaporate, so yes its always a good idea to dechlorinate
