I like piranahs(or however you spell that). My dad had some the size of a hand when he was like 25 and is getting mor soon. But you won't be able to keep em in a 10 for very long.

Good luck. Depending on how long you kept your snakes in the tanks...they may not hold water any more. The acid in reptile urates pits silicone. I've seen a lot of old snake tanks turn fish tank turn dumpster bait.

Cichlids are really durable fish with some pretty variaties. Although they are carnivorous so make sure you get ones that are the same size and feed them enough.

Yep those are nice.
I don't keep fishes anymore but I think for a 10 gallon tank then maybe some Neon Tetra's would be nice, they stay small all their lives and look nice.

Tetras are nice especially for a small aquarium, and their pretty fool proof as well as live for quite awhile.

I don't think all cichlids are carnivorous. I have some Africans (Mbuna) from Lake Malawi and I'm pretty certain that they're strictly herbivorous.

I'm thinking whale shark. Yeah...get a whale shark. That will fit in your 10 gallon tank about as well as a piranah or a cichlid will.

Get an angelfish or two, I have one in my 20 gal tank and he's awesome. Such a great spunky personality if you want a fish like that. Those kind of fish look really nice in a planted aquarium. I also have a bala shark and a few corycats and a small spotted catfish in there, too.
I used to have a male albino african clawed frog in the tank, too. He got along with the fish just fine. He was really awesome... a neighbor gave him to me cause her baby son was starting to stand up, pulling himself up, and she was afraid he would pull the fishtank and the stand over on himself. But froggy died a few months ago from old age, but I got to enjoy him for the 5 years that I had him. He was really neat. He'd come up to me if I wiggled a finger in the water, and at night he'd sit on the bottom of the tank and sing... sounded kinda like a cricket. lol
But anyways...

Hmm.... that's interesting. Never heard of that before. Can you visually see the problem with the silicone or do you have to test it out with water first?

What about removing as much of the silicone as you can and re-siliconing it?
**Ducking from JS just in case this is a stupid question.

That would be possible, just make sure to get aquarium rated silicone.
Here is a link to a tank repair guide with links to parts lists and DIY make your own tank guides:

Hope that helps.

I would fill it up and see if it leaks before chipping out the silicone...give it a few days to see for sure...which you gotta let the algae start anyway before you can add fish if you want to keep them alive.

Yea, I would probably give it a shot first to see if it needed the work but I'm betting it does. I think the tank is like 20+ years old that I got from a friend who kept her BP in. It has the tracks up top too for plexi glass and screen so that may have to come off to accomodate a fish tank lid. I'd also have to get a new filter unless I wanted to use two filters that I already have laying around. I could use some filter material from a friends tank but I was wondering about that bio-spira stuff you can buy now from the store now a days. Any experiences with that stuff. I always hated using suicide fish and Mollys quickly overkill a tank and have never tried fishless cycling.

OH NO lol...the sliding screen top cage..critter cages do not hold water. Were not designed to hold water and say so on a little sticker on the front when they are new. I don't even think they are made of tempered glass. You can probably just forget this whole thing. If it's not tempered glass, and manages to hold water at all...and you so much as tap the glass with if full of water..it's going to explode.

LOL, Okay. Thanks. I think that this actually started off as an aquarium and she put on the top but I'm not sure so I wouldn't risk it. I think they have like 55's there pretty cheap too but the kits stink so I wouldn't go with that.
