Anyone like cichlids?
These are my boyfriend's fish...
see, he has the fish, I have the reptiles.. now if only he was more into reptiles lol
This is our male Umbee, we are looking for a female currently.
He currently is divided off from and shares a 75 gallon tank with a pair of red devils, this is the female, she is a true midas barred devil
They breed all the time, they did't like me being so near the tank and started flaring up at me, I realized why when the next day the eggs hatched

They have had multiple batches and usually about half the babies stay barred like the female. Also, the red wash on her gills/face, she only gets when breeding.
This is our female dovii, my b/f's orginal female that he had for 7 years died a few years ago, she is half green half common dovii (wolf cichlild)
This is the pair together, they live in a 240 gallon. The flash reflected off the male's eye but I thought i made a cool shot
We also have a 75 gallon with a pair of true red terrors, a 55 gallon full of baby red devils from our pair and a 10 gallon with an asian tiger lobster. My b/f just picked up a 600 gallon that we will hopefully bring home next month!
Love to hear any comments, thanks!!

a baby bass would be neat, I've seen one at a store here (not sure if it's legal?). I had a bunch of cichlids a long time ago but then got into reptiles. I'll try to get some pics of the big tank when we get it, probably will set it up as naturalistic as possible as a freshwater tank and load most of the pairs into it.

I was trying to talk him into doing a huge reef but that would cost too much (we would have to buy a chiller and that would cost too much for now) so it will either be a salt water tank (that's what the prior owner used it for) or it's going to be a huge fresh water set up and we'll put all the cichlids together.

Wow.. for a second there, i thought cichlids were the tiny colorful squares of chewing gum and had a 'happy place' episode

It is a big tank, I don't know the measurements tho, he's going to get it next weekend it looks like. It sits on a steel stand, has built in wet/dry with sump, I think it has a UV filter and a protein skimmer already. got to rent a truck, lifts and have about 5 other guys in order to move it. We are still renting so it's going to sit in the garage until we are able to buy a home. He says since I want a reef so bad I can get a 24 gallon nanocube later.

I just wanted to add these pics I took of the Asian Tiger Lobster, I bought for my b/f a few months ago as a gift, he lives in a 10 gallon, he is about 4" or so and they only get to be 5-6". He has molted once, the pics don't capture his color.
I haven't found much info about them online, but we've been caring for him similar as a cichlid (same type of temps, water condition etc). He feeds on guppie feeders, flake food, frozen brine shrimp and beef heart.
