Betta breeding turns bad.

OK I have bred betta's for about 3 years now. WEll I stoped breeding 5 months ago. BUT seeing I got this cool male a month ago that has red fins with a aqua body. Well I was going to breed him with my blue female that was a very good breeder female. She bred with a blue male last year. Well I had it all set up ready for them I put the male in and he did his thing (build the nest) than a day latter I put the female in a chimney. Just like I have been doing for the other years of breeding. Well when the female was ready I let her in the tank. Well lets just say they did not do good. She was ready for sure. It was him. He took it the wrong way. He had the nest and he got her to go to the nest but he bit and bit and bit every time she got close. This went on and on and on. Well like you know yes they will some times fight. Well he would not stop and breed. This went on for about 2 days. So I just said he is not going to breed. So I took him out. Well I was going to try the blue male again so I put him in and she was put back in her tank. I did this to let him get ready for her. Well the next day I put her in her chimney that's in the breeding tank. Well all went good so far. When she really wanted to get to him you could see the eggs in her really good. SHe was ready. He did a small bubble nest. Well I let him in the tank. Every thing was going really good. She went over to the nest ready he was all so ready for her. BUT that's when things went wrong. She went crazy and started fighting with the male. He did not start it it was the female. She started biteing and grabing his fins. (He don't really have a tail now.) Than I gess he got mad and started biteing her. They had a war in the tank. I was going to get my net but I missed placed it at the time. I gess I was so scard I forgot where I put it. I went in the other room to see there it was. I took it and went back to my room to see that they had each other by the lips. I took a pic of it really fast. THan I took her out fast..... I gess she got mad at the other male so she took it out in him. He was a very good breeder all so. I don't know what went wrong really.... Im not going to breed that female no more.

This is pretty common, Betas are extremely aggressive fish and don't have much of a brain to back it up.

ohya

Oh well I new that. I studyed all on them before I started the breeding 3 years ago. I mean I do the same thing every time as in how I have the tank and every thing else in it. It's just this time she had enough of it.

Right now there in jars with med in them to help there fins grow back and keep fungus and other stuff out. There in another room away from all the other betta jars. they can't see each other eather. Im going to half to keep it like that for a good few weeks to make sure they don't stress out.

Ok, I have a Beta question.

I keep Bettas in small bowls like this....

I put a female in with one of them, but he just beet her up, and knocked her outta the tank, eventualy.

Now he made a bubble nest.

Suggestions on how to reintroduce her, if I should. And I already know to cover the bowl better .
