Look up top for the white letters saying 'my account'
Click onthem and you will have the options for your account, of which avatars are listed along with an option to upload your own .

Step one:
Have the avatar that you like hosted somewhere on the internet. Someplace like the free photo albums here on redtailboa.net.

Step two:
Open the pic in a web browser so you get the URL in the address bar. It will read something like http://www.anyserver.com/myavatar.jpg. Highlight the address and copy it to your clipboard (either edit/copy or CTRL+C).

Step three:
Open your RTB profile by clicking "Profile" in the options at the top of any given page of the forums here. Paste the URL into the "link to an offsite avatar" line in your profile (either edit/paste or CTRL+V)

Step Four:
Click Submit and check that it works.

The easiest way:
-At the top of every forum, there is a "profile" icon. Click it
-Once the page loads, scroll down to the avatar
-You can then choose to use a preloaded pic from RTB, or browes your computer- this is the only way I know of to use a pic from your computer as your avatar!

---You can use an animated gif file if you feel like creating one, it just can't be larger than 90X120 pixels
