The Ignore feature of RTB
Hi everyone.
I wanted to make sure everyone is aware of a snazzy feature of RTB. It is called the Ignore function.
If there is someone on this site that you feel you do not even want to notice their existence, you can simply make them go away. Here's how:
1. While looking at a post that you really never want to see again, click the user's name and choose "View Public Profile" from the dropdown list.
2. Click "Add {username} to your ignore list"
3. Post away happy in the knowledge that you won't ever have to read anything they have to say again.
Please note: This feature won't work on members of the staff. We are UnIgnorable.
-Your Sick Uncle Morti....
Always helpful.

Re: The Ignore feature or RTB
Dang your right it doesn't work on staff members.
Sorry Morti I just had to double check.
And thanks for the tip, I feel I add all the idiots to my ignore list I would have to remove them from it if they called me out. So my list is empty.

Why? The board would be a much more pleasant place if there were NO calling out. Since this is not some hypothetical Utopian paradise that we are living in, the second best solution would be for the Callee to not respond to the Call.
A fight still involves two or more participants.

I wish lol. Some people don't have the snap to let things die down. You can ignore them for months, and then *WHAPAH!* old senseless drama comes out of nowhere to b-slap you across the face. FO REAL! I ain't kiddin', yo.
.
Does the ignore function work in the chat and in PM's?

PM's yes. Chat, no.
Wait a minute... Chat? People still chat?
Since our chat is an IRC room, you should be able to use /ignore.

Re: The Ignore feature of RTB
I imagine you would still see their presence when others quote them in posts. I can't say the Jerry Springer-esque threads aren't occasionally amusing to the uninvested....

'Tis very true..I do enjoy the occasional "sit back and eat some popcorn" threads...but unfortunately, if you are invested, it can be quite the annoyance...kind of like fuit flies....or when you're trying to sleep, and a mosquito keeps finding its way to your ear...so you find some ear plugs, and fall asleep...but then you don't hear your alarm in the morning, and you're 2 hours late for work....not that I would ever do something dumb like that...

Re: The Ignore feature of RTB
I actually started using the ignore list a week ago. 3 perps and it seems like 25% of the posts on this site disappeared! It has cut down on a lot of clutter. Only problem you might run into is you might offer identical advice of a previous ignored poster which probably looks kinda stupid, but it's simple enough to unignore to verify this in a short thread, and simple to go right back to ignoring. There are certain nights when I would probably ignore me. Maybe tonight even.

Re: The Ignore feature of RTB
Hey ABP, can you see this post? If not, your a big dumb poop head! If you can, ...uh... just joking!!!
.
Edit: sorry for the hijack, I've had a drink, or 3. But to get us back on topic (it was so seriously derailed) will the ignore feature block threads if the ignored user creates them? That would it easier to catch up on threads when I'm away for days.

Re: The Ignore feature of RTB
Yes, I can.
No, it won't, which doesn't help when people constantly pimp the threads they start. A couple bttt are ok, but some people really push it to the limits. Almost makes you want to see some sort of limit on posts per day. ALMOST!!! Not quite.
Oh, and you still know they posted, which kinda ruins it. It just blocks what they posted and says "this person is on your ignore list". I like the ones where you almost forget people exist.
Edit 2: I'm not that big, not even for dumb poopheads. Edit 3: Just regular size.

Oh, and I just realized that it doesn't stop emails when they post on subscribed threads.
Morti, no offense, but ignore user is kinda crap, IMO.

Hmm, why does every post but mine say "this person is on your ignore list" ? Weird.

Re: The Ignore feature of RTB
Hey Morti, I know that you are like the national reserve of RTB, so you can create all the vbux you want, but I would be willing to give you every single vbuck (to help maintain the vbux integrity and value, of course...we don't want inflation...right?) in my bank if you can create an option in the vbplaza that will scramble the posts of those on the ignore list, rather than hide them. I would be thoroughly entertained by seeing random gibberish, rather than wondering what that hidden post says lol. For example,
Quote:
|
Friggle brack toggle pumpkin poop blargh nom nom woohaa! umph gop guh poop tock dur dur pfft. Haa!! Mopper top cardung table bowl!
|
Now, wasn't that fun? Or am I drunk? ....
