so i figure that this shouldnt go in the reptile-related questions.... i cant get the flash chat to work. i know i have the latest version of flash on my computer.... confused!

Yep, Never has that I know of. I use the fauna classifieds chat....I can't get any of the other herp chats to work

I use ssnakess.com although I dont know anyone on there and the boards here stay pretty busy..You just have to do a NEW SEARCH every few minutes to keep up..

There have been a lot of changes on RTB.net and I believe natas, the Bossman is looking into that as well as some other little glitches.

IRC Chat has been up for years and some of us idle there but because java or flash or whatever it is here has been dead awhile, the chat isn't very active right now...but that could easily change if some of you with IRC knowhow can get in.

Also on sorcery is #herpworld ...The same people in #redtailboa also hang out on #herpworld and because herpworlds java works and has worked for a long time, it's more active. Come find us

It's easy.

Download mirc and install it.

When prompted at the setup screen, fill in the following as such

name: type whatever you want here. Not your real name unless you want stalked.

email has nothing to do with your email address. It's just a word that will show up on your hostmask when you log in...it is meaningless and where most people screw up...typing in an email address...just pick a word. Any word will do.

Screen name... again...any word will do but the name you pick would be nice if it is the same or similar to your rtb screenname

secondary screenname is for in case someone else is using your screen name already. There can be only one! Once you establish a connection, you can register your nickname...but for now let's keep it simple. Ask someone in chat how to do all that once you get in.

Once you have your mirc setup, you have to log onto a server before you can enter a chat room. IRC is made up of several "nets" that are made of several linked servers. They are not compatible so make sure you are on the right net. For instance, if you just click the server connect button without entering a servername...Mirc will default you to a dalnet server. If you log into #redtailboa, noone will be there because dalnet sucks and we don't use their servers

So anyway, now that you get your mirc set up, down at the bottom is a little text box. In that text box, type exactly this... /server irc.sorcery.net

Once you do that, a bunch of crap should scroll by really fast and a little channel box thing will open...if you are feeling savy at this point, delete all the default channels that pop up and enter #redtailboa and #herpworld. YES you have to use the #.

Or close the box and type down in the textbox where you typed to log into sorcery.net exactly this... /join #redtailboa and then type /join #herpworld

The cool thing about IRC is you can log onto many channels at one time and just click between the tabs to see what's going on.

Once you get in a channel, type /help ...it helps

If you are behind some big corporate firewall at work, you probably can't use IRC. Otherwise this should get you in
