Alerts?!
I have a question for anyone who knows the answer. One of my first posts on this site (i switched from repticzone.com) a few months ago was about why boas get darker or lighter. In one of my replys, I made the mistake of using the term "wierd as HE -double hockey sticks". I received an alert about my language and apologized sincerely. I'm certainly not trying to cause trouble and didn't mean to offend anyone. My question is, How long will my posts contain my alert message in it? Does it go away after a certain period of time? I'm a good guy and meant no harm. I steer away from offensive language and still have a bad label attached to my name. What can I do to put this in the past?

you don't see it?! Great! I'm not posting on threads while advertising that I'm a potty-mouth! It was a warning...although it does say alert....is there a difference? One more severe than the other?

It's still there. Once it has been there for 30 days you can request that an admin (not to be confused with a mod) remove it. Just PM one.

HAHAHAHA, man. RepticZone. The people on those boards are so unfriendly and usually far from knowledgable, I feel physical pain for whoever goes there looking for good advice.
I once had an argument with a guy from RepticZone, that glass does not hold surface temperatures better than it would air temperatures simply because glass is not an insulator for heat, and the temperature on the other side of the glass is going to make it much lower. He claimed that he could prove me wrong and that he could direct a CHE at the glass and make it hotter than the air temperature around it.
The reason it started is because I told another person they needed some type of undertank heat on a GLASS enclosure, using newspaper substrate, or else his Boa won't be able to digest well at all. He claimed that surface temperatures are always higher than air temperatures when you use a CHE.
And to top it off, he had the most annoying, pompous attitude of anybody I've ever seen. After every comment it'd be like "OK, idiot." "Nice try genius"... it made me feel bad for people that REALLY need help, and they have this guy running around. It's going to lead to lots of deaths from novices trying to take care of a Boa, and this guy that basically acts like he runs the board, telling everyone terrible advice.
Oh, by the way, everyone got mad at ME for saying he needed a UTH, and trusted the other guy's advice.

Thats' only scratching the surface of the terrible things that people say to each other on that site. I've witness a 15 year old boy get shunned off the forum because of his screenname (went from "new snake owner" to "squish the spiders!"). Most people realized that the kid was trying to be silly, not offensive, but a few people tore him apart. Others would get into cussing matches because of the infamous substrate debate. Aspen or cypress? Next thing you know everyone is mad.
I left the site when one girl's rescue died from RI and evereyone ripped her a new one for it. This little teenage girl was an emotional wreck and a group of kids were relentless in their verbal beatings. I posted a thread saying bye to the decent members and told the rest to enjoy running the site into the ground. This site has been a breath of fresh air! Thank you all for being normal, polite human beings!!!!

well, "normal" may have been pushing it. But calling any of you wierd would be the pot calling the kettle black! I haven't actually figured out what normal means, yet! So, yea...let's scratch the Normal part out, shall we?
