I remember encounting a website that detailed the nutritional value of different feeder rodents in a neat chart. Unfortunately I can't recall where or to whom it was linked. Does anyone know which site I'm talking about and have the website addy handy?

Thanks in advance

I had a prior post regarding feeding, but it's in the wrong forum (under FAQ). I wanted to know how to exercise my boa so he wouldn't get fat. Eddie, you responded that Rats are more nutritious that mice, but in the web site that Impermanentrage gave us, mice are higher in protein, fat, energy, etc. All except phosphorous, which I have no idea what that would be for....But, now I'm confused. Mice or rats are more nutritious?

Rats are more nutritious. They have less fat and the diff in the other levels is offset by the fat content.

Mouse is 8.8 % fat while a rat is only 1.9 % fat.

We must also remember that this is relative to overall mass of the animal in question. For example, although a mouse may have a higher protein content for it's body weight you don't want to continue feeding three or four mice per meal in order to provide the nutritional value that one small/medium rat would provide.
I would also wager that chicks/quail have a higher protein and lower fat content, yet the amount of calcium is significantly lower. Ultimately it is up to the owner to decide what they feel is the optimum prey source for their particular animal's dietary needs.
I use ,and have used: mice, rats, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, and on occasion , reptiles/birds as a last ditch attempt to get problem feeders on a schedule. I generally don't use birds because i don't like to clean cages more than i have to, but whatever melts your butter.

I don't think their is anything wrong with thinking in "human terms". Just think of them as your little carnivorous children. You just want to provide what's best for that particular individual. And believe me, that can vary as much between individuals as it can between species themselves.
Some folks have problems feeding mice to their snakes out of fear that you'll have a habitual mouse feeder who won't ever touch a rat. This may have some validity to it, but i am always open to other options. I have yet to have BC that wouldn't switch when the time was right.
Now BP's? That's an entirely different ball of scales.
