I got Jasmine,my RTB,1/30/04 the pet store had fed her on that day,she was on LIVE fuzzy rat and LIVE adult mice I have tried f/t rat fuzzies and f/t adult mice with no luck.I have even tried stunning a rat fuzzy and a adult mouse and she still won't take it.She in a 30 gal tank, warm side day temp 87,cool side 79 at night it drops to about 84 and 73,she has a water bowl bigger than she is,2 hide spots and a a branch she loves to climb on.she is 18 inches long.I think I covered everything cage wise.I know it hasn't been that long since she last ate but it still worries me.any tips/suggestions on getting her to eat f/t?Thanks!

It hasnt been that long and sometime snakes need some time to acclimate to a new home
It sounds like you do have your cage setup properly.
What kind of thermometer do you have? (sometimes those cheap tape ones can be way off on the temp.)
Is the cage in a place that would see a lot of traffic and commotion?

After you have double checked the "environment" and know for sure everything is right keep the handling to a minimum and continue to offer the f/t prey. She come around and take the f/t food in the next couple weeks when she has had a chance to settle in.

man I have one that will only eat live I've tried everything.
You haven't had her very long give her some time. wait about a week between offering I started mine on P/K than move to F/T they seem to have no problem also feeding in a seperate bin I have a big rubbermaid tup from wallmart that I feed mine in it tends to keep aggerssion down cause they don't think that youi are feeding them every time you open the tank. Give her a week or two than ofer p/k or f/t mouse hold by tail and doo the rat dance with it if she acts affraid don't chace her with it set it in there and give her some time. if she doesn't eat it freese it and try a week to 10 days later. good luck and some one else with more knowledge will be along to offer some help too

Yea if you want to feed FT food items then it could take some time for then to convert but she will most likely give in.

When to upgrade.

I have a rtb female 5-6 feet long. I ussually feed her a large rat 10-14 days. Now i think she needs more because at 8 days she looked ravenous. And the morning after she got fed she still looks hungry and on the hunt or ready to strike.

Should I upgrade to colossol rats? What do I do with the medium rats that I have? Feed her two at a time. Not powerfeed but give it to her on a plate and let her decide if she wants two.? I keep thinking chill out. I just fed you last night. Later today when it gets more light out she will finally go back to her box.

Should I feed her every 7 days until the large ones are gone and then upgrade to jumbo?

Thanks,
James

I think this is a large rat?
