hello everyone...
i was just wondering if y'all could give me some input on my feeding schedule. i just want to double-check and cross-reference and make sure everything sounds good! just for reference, i get my rats from RodentPro, and i'm not willing to feed anything other than rats (rabbits, etc). i have 2
BCIs. one is a male, just under 7', and 7 yrs old. i'm pretty sure he's almost done growing, because he grew at a pretty constant rate for years and now he's only grown an inch or two this year. i fed him 1 jumbo every 2 weeks for quite a while, but once he got to be 6.5' or so, he always still seemed hungry. i ordered some colossal rats from RodentPro and those seemed to suit him very well. also, he would never before take multiple prey items, but now he'll take 2 jumbos in a heartbeat and seem very content, but 2 jumbos every 2 weeks seems a bit too much for me. right now i'm feeding him every 2 weeks, alternating between 1 and 2 jumbos. any opinions?
my second
BCI is a female, 7.5', and very big-bodied. i don't know her age because she was a rescue, but i get the feeling she's not done growing! i do know that she's at least 5 yrs old, but that she was mistreated for most of her life. she is almost twice as big-bodied as my male (head size and such). i have been feeding her 2 jumbos every 2 weeks. the colossals barely even leave a lump, but i think that 2 colossals would be too much, but 1 colossal wouldn't be enough! she was underweight when i got her (march 10 of this year), but was so sick (and with severe damage to her head) that we could only feed her medium rats for a while, but now she's completely healthy and with a voracious appetite! once she gets up to weight (she's still slightly under), what will be a good feeding schedule to sustain her weight, rather than increase it?
i don't have recent pictures, or exact measurements (length or girth), but i can get them easily if that would help. like i said, they are very happy and healthy, but i just want to make sure that they are getting optimal nutrition. if anyone has boas that are of similar size, let me know what you are feeding them. i need to place an order from RodentPro, so i figured i'd do my homework before i filled my freezer! thanks everyone...
