Question thawing bigger stuff.

Right now I'm feeding my burm jumbo rats, but obviously he will be needing bigger stuff soon. At the moment, I'm tossing the frozen rat in the fridge over night so that it will be ready for warming the following night. I've seen tons of (and given some) advice on thawing and warming smaller stuff, but I'm curious what you guys with the bigger stuff do. How are you defrosting and warming a big rabbit? Do you even need to warm for your monsters? How long does it take. Etc. Any advice is welcome. Peace!

Re: thawing bigger stuff.

I fill my bathtub with room temperature water, take the rabbit in its plastic bag and put it in, flipping it over every half hour or so. It never takes more than four or five hours to thaw all the way in my experience. I squish the tummy really good to make sure that there aren't any bits of ice, feel the head, then do about a half an hour in warmish/hottish water to get it nice and palatable.

Re: thawing bigger stuff.

for the burms at work who we feed large frozen rabbits, we let them sit and thaw for a few hours, then put them in a bucket of HOT water for another few hours, we just pour the warm water out and fill it with more really hot water every so often. They can take awhile, but never more than 4-5 hours.
