Feeding King Snake?
How often do people feed neonate King snakes---He is always hungry but I don't want to over feed him. Should I follow the same rule that I use for my BP and Boa. Boa ever 2-3 weeks and BP every week. Oh yeah he is only 5 months old and about 10 inches. Got him about 3 weeks ago and well he hardly ever was fed I guess. I feed him now 1 pinky every week.

Re: Feeding King Snake?
Kingsnakes have a much more rapid metabolism than Boas.. it would be ok to feed a growing Kingsnake every 5 days or so. It depends on how big a meal you are giving and how well the snake is digesting the meal.
.
That's my thoughts on that.

Re: Feeding King Snake?
I feed prey items that are slightly larger than their girth every 7 days.

Re: Feeding King Snake?
I have a Florida King. Not exactly sure how old, but id say less than a year. I aggree with gus, every 5 days or so is fine. I usually feed mine a pinky every 6 or 7 days. However, i was wondering what else he might eat. Any suggestions?

You won't go wrong if you stick to mice. They will provide all the nutrition a kingsnake needs.

Re: Feeding King Snake?
Our 8mo Dot Dash Cali King eats fuzzies every 5 days, or else she gets VERY nippy.

mmmhmm yeah, I was aware of that. He wanted to know if he should use the same rules for his "neonate" kingsnake that he used for his boa and bp. He was clear in that "neonate" comment, therefore he must have recognized that you feed "neonates" differently than an adult, otherwise he'd not have mentioned it. Darned if you do, darned if you don't. Two ways to read the Q: - Feed the "neonate" kingsnake every 2-3 weeks like some feed an adult boa which seems like a very odd question, or
- Feed the "neonate" kingsnake every 2-3 weeks like a "neonate" boa - which, to me, would make more sense in a question form, if you have to ask, but hopefully aren't doing .
Or maybe I'm just reading too much into stuff that hopefully he figured out 2 weeks ago when he asked?
