Re: when to convert to rabbits

You should be able to find a size chart over at rodentpro.com. At 7 feet, my BCI was eating small adult rabbits, and now at 8 and a half feet, she's eating mediums.

Re: when to convert to rabbits

i assume a XXX rat would be considered a collasal rat then. it says it is equivalent to a 1.5lb rabbit. the rats were huge it seemed like they weighed more to me. but i never did weigh them. i will just go off of what you said and try a small adult. thank you very much

jns

by the way did you have any trouble converting or does a rabbit smell close enough to a rat for a snake, or do you think they just automatically recognize it as a meal

Re: when to convert to rabbits

So far, I've never had any trouble switching any of my RTBs to rabbits, they're total chow-hounds. I have one big Peruvian BCC girl who won't even look at guinea pigs, but she'll eat rats and rabbits with equal gusto. I'm sure your rtb will have no trouble switching!

Re: when to convert to rabbits

Instead of going straight to rabbits, you might want to go to a guinea pig for a few months. IMHO.

Re: when to convert to rabbits

Guinea pigs are very high in fat so they are great for, say, putting weight back on a female after she has just dropped babies. I don't think I would feed them as a primary food source all year 'round though. Rats or rabbits are a much better balanced food source.
