Hmm..I may be wrong BUT I doubt that "most" people have access to such...hence the "everyday" person's inquiry to the most humane way to kill em. Not disagreing with ya , BUT such wouldn't help most keepers here. But your vet should. If your pet is ill, injured etc, and all options have been exhausted and you've made the decision to euthanize, than i would assume you'd be willing to have the animal euthanized in the most pleasant manner possible for all involved.
But, if you don't have access (although you should if you've been taking decent care of the animal in the first place), than i would suppose that a gunsot to the head , decapitation, or CO2, for most reptiles would work. Of course i think i'd prefer CO2 myself.

Alex: So you're talking about putting the snake down, not killing its food I think most people thought you were suggesting the SPB thing for killing rodents to feed the snakes!
"Hello, Vet, I'd like you to euthanize a dozen mice for my snake for this month."

I always try to by frozen, but they only sell the rat pups live where I get mine. So I put the pup in a plastic Publix bag (grocery bag), Twist it a bit so the rat is just in a small pocket of the bag, grip the bag right above the mouse, and then slam it against a wall. The rat is gone instantly, if there's even a twitch it lasts for like 3 seconds. And I've never had a problem with blood.
Last week when it hit the wall the rat must had his head up weird cus it actually snapped his neck, when I looked in the bag after wacking it his eyes were already closed and there was like not even a tiny little bit of twitching.
I'd suggest this way to anyone who doesn't know/want to try cervical dislocation.
Scott

Why would they think that?

Two nights ago, I wacked a rat by slamming it into a wall. I slammed it pretty hard, but it was twitching. I hit it against the wall a total of three times, then froze it. I felt so bad after that (first time I ever wacked an animal). I'll never buy a live rat and wack it again. I'll be ordering from rodentpro from now on. On the upside, my ball python switched to f/t....Sorry if that was a bit graphic....

Ok here lets say this. I have a rat as many of you know and all my fondness I have for snakes I WILL NEVER KILL a rat or mouse. I will buy frozen even if I have to ship them in. My rat Sniffels is 7 years old now and my mouse Minnie was 6 and she just passed away and I had another little mouse named Daisy that died od Epileptic Seziures and let me tell you it hurt as bad as if you were to loose your dog or cat... They hurt just like you and I and if you watch them long enough you will see a different little personality in each and every one of them. Remember this the next time you decide to stick a little life into a cold dark freezer or slam it against somthing in a dark bag. Do you ever wonder how you'd like to die? Think about it.... / Juggalette
