Rabbit Feeders

Well, I didn't want to be gross, and call this thread "Skinned Rabbits," but that is really the question I've got. My father in law came over today and saw that I was thawing a rabbit in the sink.... he informed me that the foodstore near his house sells rabbits by the pound, skinned. They are pre cleaned/skinned. I know it's not a good idea to feed processed poultry, but what do you all think about rabbits? I would most likely rather feed normal f/t rabbits, (besides the fact that my shy girl probably wouldn't touch them) but the old man got me thinking. Thanks in advance for your opinions! 	Frozen/Thawed A rodent or other prey item that is frozen and then thawed to be fed to a reptile or other animal.

when you say sells by the pound, skinned, I take it the rabbits will also be gutted. You dont want them to be cleaned out because the innerds is where most of the nutrients are found.
Other than that I dont see anything wrong with getting your rabbits from there.

Thanks! I haven't checked the place out, but you're probably right in that they are gutted already. Think I'll just stick to the pet store, that sells food for pets... hehe. [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img]

Actually, You could possibly get the rabbits from that place np to feed to your snakes even. Just ask them if they will just sell you the dead rabbits and not skin or gut them is all. The place near where I live is willing to do that... AND It would be much cheaper than what ya can get em for f/t from a supplier in most places also.

I have to agree, I have a Live poultry place nearby that sells rabbits also. I asked them can I get the rabbits whole? The guy says: "anyway you want them!" [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img] Only problem is their sizes sometimes vary.
