I feed my BCC once a week with 1 jumbo or medium rat. My BCC is 5.5' and around 4 yrs old. Is that feeding too often? How often does everyone else feed? And is feeding frequency different on colubrids? I also have a baby ratsnake and a baby corn eating once a week.

Thanks to the people who know more about my favorite animals than me,

Justin Gibson

First of all, since I havent had a chance to say it yet, welcome to RTB.

As far as feeding a 4 yr old BCC, if it's up to eating jumbos, you could move it back to every 10-14 days. I dont know much about colubrids, but I imagine since yours are babies, you probably do want to feed them once a week still. Probably would be a good idea to double check me on the caresheets though.

No need to double check on ya rev that sounds fine to me also. At 4' and eating that large of a prey item you really need to give the snake time to digest it's meal and replace the gut flora also. 10-14 days time will do it np.
As for the colubrids.. YUP, they should be fed weekly like every 7 days basically. Even after they get larger. The colubrids have a faster rate for digestion and also they are more active.. so they tend to use up their taking of energy from their meals at a faster rate than the boas do.
