i was always feeding bianca frozen/thawed when all of a sudden she just started refusing it.
when i offered her live food she took it without a problem. why could this be?

It depends on how you're offering the prey. For example, with my little guy, when he switched form live to f/t, his entire feeding response changed. He no longer strikes or even takes food from the tongs. Now I have to leave it in the tank for hours and just come back to see if the food's gone.
Does your snake even act semi-intrested when you put the food around her? Do you feed in a separate container?

sometimes i feed her in a separate container. I don't usually need to. usually i just dangle the prey in there and she grabs it, she got to the point where she didnt even constrict it anymore.
sometimes i could just leave it lying in her cardboard box house and she would just take it from there, no amount of efforts work now. she wasnt even semi interested in it
when i offered her live prey she took it without any hesitation

That's wierd. I haven't had that happen with boas, but one of our king snakes recently stopped taking f/t so I fed it live and ate without any issues. I might try that one more time and then go back to f/t. Hopefully, our snakes will get back on track.

I don't recommend switching to live prey just to keep your snake from missing a meal. A skipped meal is not a big deal. Just stick with the f/t routine and leave it in there over night. Keep this up until it eats...it won't starve itself.
Good luck and keep us posted!

is it really that bad to feed live if it is properly supervised?
just for the record - this is not intended to start a live vs f/t debate!!!!

There is no safe way to feed live, therefore the risks are still there even when supervising.

If the prey bites back, you may be able to get the rat to let go, but the damage is still done. Just feed f/t...there's no need for live.
