Converting from live

Hey guys its me once again,

I know people say that its going to be easy to convert the Ball to frozen but i have a few questions

Should i start it on fresh killed rats?
Is it true that exposing the brain of the prey is like catnip to the snake?
How do i kill the rats/mice humanly? Snap its neck?

hmmm, no response yet. I'll give it a try,
My new snake is beign a bit of a problen feeder, but he's the first one thats given me trouble, so I'm not a very experienced souce, but htis is what i know.

freshly killed has a "better" smell than f/t, and most snakes are willing to take it if you "wiggel them" I think that its wirth trying f/t first, then if they don't take it right away, use fresh-killed as a in-between stage

exposing the brain is suposed to really work. its the next thing I'm going to try on my little guy, but i haven't actually used this technique myself yet

As for killing them i've heared that you can co2 them (i think that would take a long time). as for snapping their nect i heared it is really easy to do...
place mouce on counter or similar surface, place a solid ruler behind the pase of the squll, pin its head down, give the body a quick jerk back to dislocate the spine.
Again i havent done it myself, but thats how i was told to do it.
Another tip i picked up was to touch the mouses nose to a heat lamp to create a concentrated heat sourse... and touching the mouses nose to the snakes.

p.s. sorry if there are a bunch of spelling mistakes in the post, spell checker doesn't work on this comp

Good luck wish me the same

Fresh killed rats are your best bet for first time pre-killed feedings. It helps if the rat/mouse is still warm.

Exposing the brain helps. Another trick is to rub the rat/mouse with chicken (this worked for me once). Sometimes, the snake will just take it if you use some tongs and wave it by the snake. I once tried everything on a wild caught boa and almost gave up until I got a suggestion from a member here. He suggested that I rub the snakes tail with the dead rat using tongs. This actually annoyed my snake so he struck out defensively at the rat, I guess his hunger overwhelmed him so he ate it right after.

I'm sure others will chime in with ideas as well
