Signs of a good eater?

I've had my ball python for about 2 weeks now, he's approximately 4-5 months old.

Well I was getting ready to feed my snake, thawing out a mouse while holding my snake.

Finally the mouse was thawed, I was going to put the snake in his tank and feed him but decided to offer the mouse while still in my hand.

Sure enough he took it, constricted it, and swallowed it all while in my hand, it was pretty cool

He wasn't starving either because I just finished feeding him 3 days ago.

Wow, that's pretty cool, however there are a couple things to address.

1) You're feeding the snake too often. At 4-5 months old, 1 meal per week should suffice.

2) I would feed it in a seperate container, not in it's tank or on your lap. You don't want it to associate sitting in your lap as "feeding time" and mistake your finger for a meal. You can buy a cheap rubbermaid bin from Walmart for about $5-$10. I like the grey ones so that they don't let much light in and make the snake feel more secure. I'll cover half of the lid, then lower the food item in by it's tail and dangle it in front of the snake until it bites it. I'll usually sit there and watch it eat for 5 mins, and then completely close the lid and leave it there for 30 mins or so before putting him back in his cage.
