Ok I've been kicking around the idea of breeding rabbits for feeders. I don't want to breed rats. Would like to see if I can get my BPs hooked on rabbit pinks and fuzzies. Anyway. Just wondering if anyone has a recomendation of a smaller breed of rabbit. Something adult size maybe 1-2 pounds. Bout the size a 7' BCI could eat. And this may be a silly question but are rabbits monogomos? Or is it ok to have 1 male and 2 females?

A warning... rabbits are very hard to breed in captivity... I don't know why people say "breed like Rabbits" So I really wouldn't do it. If you do, your Netherland Dwarfs stay the smallest but they can still reach a good 4-5 pounds.

Hiya, Ed....
On another note about rabbits.... they are not necessary monogamous, but you should know that you can't keep them all together. Even if the rabbits are a bonded pair, housing them together will create difficulty if you're trying to breed them (I don't think a male can stay with a female when she is raising her litter...)
Rabbits are very territorial (especially when they are not altered), and when a fight occurs, it's NOT pretty.
Not trying to discourage ya, but just saying it's not as easy as it sounds.

Well, just try it and see.
As for the varied sizes, you may need to let some grow a lil bit before whacking and freezing while letting others grow up all the way for the larger snakes.
Keep them in cycles like that and you'll figure out how many bucks and does to keep going to meet the demand.

Get better results with about 3 -4 does per buck, and rotating the buck around, just like in nature.

My experience : Had male and female, housed separate. ANytime I put them together, she had babies (breeding NOT a problem). The father MUST be separated or he kills the babies. The mother was not very gentle herself, but it could be the cage was not well designed for breeding.
Friend had them on a cage on the ground, backyard, had new rabbits ALL the time. A male to many females, no bonding at all.
You can freeze them at all sizes. Ours were "giant" rabbits, but the babies were the size of a small rat, little hair, eyes closed (like pinkies).
I would have a problem getting attached to them if I see them all the time.
