I'm looking for someone in my area that I can split an order with. I only have a small berm. and it just seems silly to pay 19.00 shipping for 13.00 worth of rats when shipping on 26.00 worth is only 20.00. They will combine sizes so we would not have to order the same size. I live in Chattanooga, TN that is right on the TN/Ga line. I would be willing to travel 30 mins or so to meet the other person to split it.
Thanks,
Jeanie

Hey Jeanie. Good luck in finding someone to split orders with. I don't need to split anymore, but I do add on to my order for a friend since he only has a single snake. An idea for you: Buy a vacuum sealer and break down the bags o rats into smaller packs. Vacuum sealed they will last 1-2 yrs! We also bought a small chest freezer to keep them in (needed room in the regular freezer for ice-cream, you know? ) Granted you can get smaller packs from RodentPro if you ask them to, but you still have to pay the minimum amount for shipping, so you may as well order more... did any of that make sense? LOL

I thought about that, but, He is a small berm. I'm hoping to keep him growing slow, not super feeding him. He is very healthy and active, just over 4 ft. and eating 1 sm/md (100/150 gr) rat every 5 days. BUT, by the time I go through that many rats he should be eating much bigger ones. I'm thinking of getting 1 bag of there smalls, and then a couple of bags of the med. The rats that we get here are fed dog food and are very long and not very big around so I think that the smalls would be ok for now. What do you guys think. He is about as big around as a empty paper towel roll, or do you guys think I could go ahead with the med? I have never ordered from them before so it is hard to picture the sizes. I'm also wanting to switch to rodentpro because they have a good rep on not having mite problems.

That's how I order. I calculate approximately how long the rats will last and when I need to go up in size, then I order bags of different sizes. Break them up into smaller bags for feeding. I have 7 snakes of differing sizes, so for me, I put the week's worth of food in one bag, vacuum seal it, label it and put in the freezer. Then I just have to pull out the bag and put it in water. Different snakes have different schedules, 7 days, 10 days and 14 days...my calendar is a mess, lol
As far as sizes go, I'm getting in some smalls and mediums, so if you want, I can take a pic of them next to a common object and ruler so you can see the difference.
Good that you don't want to power feed, but you may want to make his schedule every 7 days as opposed to 5. Especially if you will be getting larger prey for him.
My e-mail is ldydrgn@pacbell.net Let me know if you want that pic.

If you go to rodentpro's website they have a comparison next to coins and dollars for you on the site. All you have to do is go to the rat page and click on view and it will show you a comparison with a dollar bill or a quarter. That should help and save you the time of taking the pics Michelle! If I knew I was coming through Chattanooga in the next few weeks I would order with you but there is never any telling when I am going through there!
Good luck...

Hey Ted, how's it going? When looking at the comparison pics on RodentPro, you can only have one of those windows open at a time. You can't see the 2 side by side, you know? I prefer being able to see a few together in order to judge the size/growth difference and was offering to send the comparison pic if Jeanie wanted it. I also find it difficult to judge the size when compared to coins or bills....I don't know why (I know, I'm just weird, LOL)

Pretty good Michelle...I see your point. It does help to see them next to one another. I think that the ideal thing to do would be to take the pic next to a ruler, which I believe that Boaphiles Rats are very comparable in size and by clicking that link you can jump right to the comparison of them all on the same page. The main reason I wanted to see what people are getting instead of going with there pics is, If you will look at the pic of a med. rat. he is smaller than the dollar bill right? Well, look at the lenght in the description and then measure a dollar bill. A dollar bill is 6 inches but they say a medium rat is 6-8? I just wanted to make sure I order the right size. I think he will do ok with the mediums for now. Not much of a difference from what he is getting now. I looked in the pictures you sent me that there smalls would almost be big enough but I want to go up a size anyway.
Thank you again for the pics.
