African Rats???
So I've been looking up a place to buy feeders from and I ran across this website that sells african rats. They claim they are "the preferred Food item of Ball Pythons" and "irresistable to even wild caught Ball Pythons". Anybody know if this is true? Are they better for them than regular rats? I've never heard of them and I figured with everything you see about ball pythons not eating, somebody would have mentioned them at some point. Anybody?

Frozen. they look different but I've never heard anything about them. Maybe a gimmick, they were selling them for like 20 for $50.

I don't know what would make a rat taste any different other than their diet.
Maybe they changed it to something like fruit or heavy protien? I don't know. A rat is a rat, and a snake probably can't tell the difference unless they are eating different foods, in my opinion.

Thats what i was thinking. What ever you feed it should be what it smells like or even the bedding its kept on.

They are saying its a different TYPE of rat. I was just wondering if anybody had heard of this. Was thinking it could be good for people who cant get theirs to eat for anything, might be worth a try? Though I'd had to get mine eating on those... $$$

A rat is not always just a rat. There are many species of rats and a species native to the same location as your snake may indeed turn a nonfeeder around...IF the rats really came from there. Could be a gimick or it could be a nice find...certainly worth trying if nothing else is working and they are reasonable. I'd love to get some rice rats from south america. Rice rats are arboreal rats that make up the majority of emerald and amazon tree boa diet in the wild.
