My snake(garter) is the hardest snake to feed. I have to get it LIVE fish without spending alot of $$$! I ussually go to a pond and there are LOTS of little fishes and i ussually got 40-50 but now i only get 9 i have tried feeding it alot of stuff like salmon, canned tuna, crab, earthworms, and ALL sorts of bugs! I feed it regurlarly and yesterday i find that 1 of them(i had 2) is missing!! and i notice how big my other snake got. It might have ate the other one because it;s pretty hard to get out of there. I need to know what to feed it. and yes i do scent the food.

hard to say when i had my gartersnake it was like a garbage disposal. When I fed my lionfish goldfish and he didnt eat em I gave them to my garter. he liked nightcrawlers too. fuzzy mice almost anything. very possible it ate the other one if there was a size difference.

Try rubbing some frozen minnows on a pinky or fuzzie and see how the Garter takes it. Works well with mine.

Night crawlers are big earthworms.
Best to dig them from ground that doesn't have any chems on it, such as a yard might have from things such as bug sprays, weed killers etc.
You can buy them at fishing shops, but typically those are more acidic than wild ones due to the soil and chems they are fed to grow quickly.

Try fish fillet pieces cut to the right size. I feed my watersnakes fish fillet (with vitamin supplements) and they take it right down...
That's really cheap, you can get a month's supply of fish for like $.45 depending on fish type. I still feed live fish about twice a month.
