I got my rtb last Friday, the pet store fed them on thursday, when I tried to feed him on the following thursday I put him in the rubbermaid like the pet store did after 12 hours he still did not eat the mouse. Am I doing something wrong. He seems ok to hold, and to handle. Could it be the move and how long should I leave him with the mouse????? My other one ate in about 2 minutes, she is vey active and curious.

Welcome to RTB!!!
first are you feeding it live mice? 1 week is really not a big deal yet at all, snakes can go a really long time without eating compared to us, and other animals without any health problems. it could just be the move, and probably is. have you been handling him a lot since you got him home? their should always be an adjustment period of at least a week (depending on the species) when bringing home a new snake so they can adjust and get comfortable with their new surroundings. if he just moved, and has been handled a lot, I would probably say this is why. but don't worry yet, 1 week is nothing. just try again in a couple days. -Juggalo

I agree with Juggalofwb, but I'm also wondering... what pet store did you get him at? does he like healthy and of good weight? just because the pet store said they fed him on Thursday doesn't mean that they did. He might have had feeding problems way before you got him.
Again, a week is truly nothing to worry about, but keep an eye on him anyway. Just my .02

Thanks for the info. No I do not feed them live mice. As far as the color and stuff he is truly beautiful, and yes I hold them both daily, and they get in my long hair and seem to enjoy it when I spend that time with them. He actually tries to climb up my arm when tring to put him back. I will try again in a couple of days. Thanks again!!!!!! Just a quick question....are you housing them separately? That could lead to eventual stress for both and possibly cause them to both not eat. Not to mention the whole quarantine thing.

He/She could also be ready for shed. When I got mine, I offered him food and he refused. I was mad then he shed a few days later and when I offered food again he almost took it out of my hand. If he sheds soon offer food again.

I feed them in different rubbermaids, but they house together. He, the one that wont eat is my boyfriends, and he is going to get his own tank this weekend so........ Mine is a female and she is soooo funny. I never relized they had such charactor. She is nosy and really alot of fun. I hope to have pics up soon. Thanks, I will watch for the shed thing and with "mojo" getting his own tank soon maybe he will be happier. Check for mites, do a vet check (including a fecal exam) and watch out for poo. Your recent addition could have mites or parasites that can be transferred to your healthy one.
